Our People
Sandy
Cedars Hunting Lodge was founded by the Puffer family. Our relatives
moved to Beadle County in the late 19th century to farm, most were
also hunters, so developing a hunting lodge was a natural event for
Jim and Mike Puffer. They run a large diversified farming operation
when not running the hunting lodge. They have farmed for a number
years to not only produce corn, soybeans and beef, but have also
developed nesting areas and great hunting habitat to provide you
with unmatched hunting success.
Jim Puffer
retired from teaching and coaching and took over the operation of the family farm. Jim has years of hunting and guiding experience.

Mike Puffer
graduated from South Dakota State University and was an Arborist in Sioux Falls, SD before coming back to Hitchcock to join with his father in operating the farm. Mike is the chief guide.

Marlene Puffer
serves as "Chief Cook and Bottle Washer" for the lodge. She is a professional cook and hostess and operates her own business in Hitchcock. Whether it’s a meal or a snack, you will be pleased with the quality and quantity of the food and beverages.

Daughters Missy and Marcy have both moved on and
started their families, but were a great help
developing and planning Sandy Cedars Lodge.
Mike is shown here with Ric T-Baumgartner from Colorado (tractor salesman, web site developer (this one for example), occasional guide at Sandy Cedars and all around ner-do-well)
